Two nights ago Luke and I were at home after a long day of errands. I had just put Vivienne to bed and we (Luke) were getting ready to watch the Cavs NBA playoff game. Unless I’m at a sports bar, with a group of friends, or pregnant, it’s rare that I’ll sit and watch a game from start to finish. I decided to bake.

Who doesn’t LOVE chocolate chip cookies? They’re like pepperoni pizza. Bring them to a party, offer a few sexier alternatives, and yet, the chocolate chip cookies are always the first to go.

As I gathered the ingredients, I realized that turning the mixer on would wake Vivipop up. Therefore I did what any good mother would do. I pulled out the old school hand blender and brought the ingredients and tools out onto the balcony. 15 floors up, outside and overlooking the bay, I started to bake. Luke intermittently popped his head out to keep me abreast of the score as I measured and mixed.

Are you wondering about those secrets yet?! My chocolate chip cookies have always been received with oohs and aahs. For good reason. I’ve altered the standard recipe slightly and poof, magic happens! Happy Baking!
